Becoming a Sabaton – a time-traveling storyteller – in "A Battle Through History" allows you to relive epic (and often unlikely!) battles alongside legendary troops and heroes as you jump through the pages of history. Your success in these battles will depend not only on the skills of the warriors you recruit during your travels, but also, and perhaps even more so, on your willingness to dare or defend.

Each battle presents a great challenge, and every one is different. Are you ready to take on the mantle of a true Sabaton?

This game, created by authors Erik Burigo, Marco Valtriani, and Pär Sundström, contains the following components: 5 Sabaton figures, 4 Quadrants for the Main Board, 1 Gears of History Board, 108 Unit Cards, 32 Relic Cards, 12 Time-Travelling Tiles, 2 Special Dice, 1 Round Track, and 73 Tokens and Counters. Additionally, there are 5 Attacker Boards and 1 Defender Board.

The Sabaton figures represent the time-traveling storytellers, who must navigate the Gears of History Board, using the Unit and Relic Cards they acquire, as well as the Time-Travelling Tiles, to strategically position themselves on the Main Board's 4 Quadrants. The Special Dice and the Round Track add an element of chance and timing to the game, while the Tokens and Counters are used to track various game mechanics.

The 5 Attacker Boards and the 1 Defender Board introduce an asymmetric gameplay dynamic, where the Attacker must carefully plan their moves to overwhelm the Defender's position.
